Olaf Scholz met Russian President Vladimir Putin during his inaugural visit as German Chancellor to Moscow on Tuesday. The ongoing crisis at the Russian-Ukrainian border dominated the agenda. However, what also grabbed headlines was the six-meter-long (20-ft) table that they sat at during their discussion. The leaders sat across each other at the glistening table. While people were eager to know about the outcome of the meeting, netizens couldn’t unsee the huge table at which the leaders discussed their agenda. Hence, it became fodder for hilarious jokes and memes online.
This is the same table where Vladimir Putin was photographed having a discussion with his French counterpart Emanuel Macron last week. Now, Olaf Scholz and the Russian president were seen sitting opposite each other at the same table.

The six-metre long lacquered wood table was used as a Covid-19 protocol – to ensure there is ample distance between the President and his guests, France24 reported.
However, Entrepreneur Renato Pologna, who heads a company called Oak in Cantù, Italy dismissed suggestions that the table was made keeping the Covid-19 social distancing in mind since it was built 25 years ago, Italian newspaper Corriere reports.
