Delhi Police Foil Alleged Plot To Target Doctor; Two Suspects Arrested After Gunfight

New Delhi: Delhi Police have reportedly foiled an alleged attempt to target a doctor in the national capital after two suspected members linked to the Himanshu Bhau gang were injured and arrested following an encounter in the Bakkarwala area. According to officials, the suspects were allegedly travelling to the area in connection with a planned attack when police teams intercepted their vehicle.

The incident reportedly involved personnel from the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Haryana Police Special Task Force (STF), who had received information about a possible targeted attack. Acting on the intelligence, teams began monitoring movements in the Bakkarwala area and subsequently identified a Mahindra Thar believed to be connected with the suspected operatives.

According to the information available, the alleged target was Dr Narendra Sharma, who owns RRM Hospital. Police sources said gangster Himanshu Bhau had allegedly issued threats against the doctor and indicated that armed associates could be sent to the area. Authorities are now examining the circumstances surrounding those alleged threats and the suspected plan.

Police Intercept Suspicious Vehicle

The operation reportedly began when police teams attempted to stop the Mahindra Thar after identifying it as suspicious. Instead of complying with the police signal, the occupants allegedly accelerated and attempted to flee.

The vehicle reportedly moved towards a service road close to a flyover. During the escape attempt, the SUV collided head-on with a Bolero pickup truck at a T-shaped intersection. The collision brought the vehicle to a halt and changed the course of the attempted getaway.

Following the crash, the two occupants allegedly abandoned the SUV. Police officials said the suspects then opened fire at the responding police personnel.

Sources cited in the initial reports said approximately eight rounds were fired during the confrontation. Police reportedly returned fire, stating that the response was carried out in self-defence.

Both suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange and were subsequently apprehended by the police. They were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Their condition and the exact nature of their injuries were not detailed in the available report.

Two Pistols Recovered

Police reportedly recovered two Glock pistols from the suspects following the encounter. Investigators are now attempting to establish where the weapons came from and whether additional individuals were involved in arranging the alleged attack.

Their alleged association with the Himanshu Bhau network is being examined by investigators. Police are expected to question the suspects regarding their movements, contacts and the purpose of their visit to the Bakkarwala area.

Given the reported age of one of the suspects, investigators may also examine how younger individuals are allegedly being recruited or used by organised criminal networks for carrying out violent assignments.
