The Delhi Government has removed an allegedly unauthorized religious structure built on government land as part of its ongoing road widening project connecting Pitampura and Shalimar Bagh. Officials said the demolition was carried out to eliminate an obstruction affecting the expansion of a key road corridor aimed at improving traffic movement in northwest Delhi.

Authorities stated that the action formed part of a larger infrastructure initiative that has been progressing in phases following legal approvals. According to officials, the structure occupied land earmarked for public road development, and its removal was necessary to ensure uninterrupted execution of the widening project.

Government representatives maintained that the operation was conducted after following due legal procedures and that public land cannot remain under unauthorized occupation, irrespective of the nature of the construction. They emphasized that the administration is committed to reclaiming encroached land wherever required for public infrastructure and civic development.

The road expansion project is expected to ease congestion in one of the city's busy residential corridors by increasing road capacity and improving connectivity between Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and surrounding areas. Officials believe the upgraded route will help reduce travel time while also allowing smoother movement for emergency vehicles, public transport and daily commuters.

The latest demolition follows an earlier large-scale drive in the same corridor, during which authorities cleared numerous alleged encroachments after court proceedings upheld the government's plans for the project. Officials said the current operation is a continuation of efforts to complete the widening of Road No. 320 and related infrastructure without further delay.

According to officials, extensive planning, land acquisition proceedings and legal reviews preceded the implementation of the project. Court records indicate that the road widening proposal has been under consideration for several years, with authorities arguing that the development is essential to address growing traffic pressure in the area.

Government sources said the administration remains focused on balancing infrastructure development with lawful procedures. They added that while development projects may involve difficult decisions, public interest and urban mobility remain key priorities.

The Delhi Government has indicated that work on the corridor will continue until all identified obstructions within the designated right of way are removed and construction activities are completed. Officials have also appealed to residents to cooperate with the authorities so that the long-pending road widening project can be finished on schedule.
