Delhi woke up to extremely poor air quality on Tuesday as pollution levels surged across the city, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossing the severe mark at a majority of monitoring stations. According to official data, 27 out of 40 stations recorded AQI readings above 400, posing serious health risks.

The city’s overall AQI stood at 415 at 9 a.m., worsening from the previous day. Five locations, including Anand Vihar, Nehru Nagar and Okhla, slipped into the severe-plus category, where pollution levels are considered extremely hazardous.

Dense fog further reduced visibility during the morning hours, disrupting daily movement. The India Meteorological Department reported a minimum temperature of 8.8°C, slightly above normal, with dense fog conditions likely to persist through the day.

Authorities have advised residents to limit outdoor exposure as pollution levels remain critically high.
