Delhi Shrouded in Smog, Air Quality Remains Poor Amid Winter Chill

Parts of Delhi continue to experience poor air quality, with a thick layer of smog reducing visibility across the city. As of Sunday morning, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported the city’s AQI at 365, with 26 out of 39 monitoring stations recording “very poor” levels. Areas such as RK Puram, Rohini, Bawana, and Wazirpur were among the worst affected.

Transport contributed the highest share of local emissions at 14.8%, followed by industrial activity, residential sources, and construction. Neighboring districts like Jhajjar and Rohtak also added to the pollution load. Pollution levels have fluctuated over the past week, largely remaining in the “poor” to “very poor” range.

While Delhi had been placed under a “Yellow Alert” for coldwave conditions on Friday, the warning was lifted on Sunday. Residents can expect temperatures to dip to around 9°C at night, with daytime highs reaching 25°C, under partly cloudy skies.
