Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt Arrested in ₹30 Crore Cheating Case

Udaipur police on Sunday arrested filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, in Mumbai in connection with a ₹30 crore cheating case involving Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of the Indira Group of Companies. The couple, along with six others, are accused of defrauding Dr. Murdia, who had commissioned a biopic on his late wife with a promised earning of ₹200 crore that allegedly never materialized.

The Rajasthan Police will seek transit remand from a Mumbai court to bring the couple to Udaipur for further investigation. Two other individuals had already been arrested earlier in the case. Vikram Bhatt, known for films such as Ghulam and the horror franchise including 1920 and Shaapit, has denied wrongdoing, claiming the police have been misled.

The case has attracted significant attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the large sum involved, highlighting the ongoing probe into the alleged IVF-related fraud.
