IndiGo Faces Tighter Oversight as DGCA Deploys Officers to Gurgaon HQ

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has placed IndiGo under heightened scrutiny following widespread flight disruptions that caused thousands of cancellations across India. To monitor the airline’s operations closely, the DGCA has set up an Oversight Team and permanently stationed two officers at IndiGo’s corporate office in Gurgaon. The Oversight Team will track pilot and crew utilization, training schedules, unplanned leaves, standby crew availability, and other operational metrics.

In addition, officials Aishveer Singh and Mani Bhushan will oversee domestic and international cancellations, refunds, passenger compensation, baggage handling, and on-time performance in compliance with CAR regulations. Earlier, DGCA had conducted onsite inspections at 11 airports to check flight delays, terminal congestion, helpdesk availability, and basic passenger amenities.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu also announced a 10% reduction in IndiGo’s overall routes to stabilize operations and reduce cancellations. The airline has agreed to comply while continuing to cover all previously serviced destinations. This intensified monitoring reflects regulatory concerns over operational lapses and aims to restore passenger confidence.
