Ketan Agrawal Murder Case: Fresh Claims Surface as Investigation Examines Alleged Murder Conspiracy

The investigation into the death of Pune-based businessman Ketan Agrawal has taken another significant turn after police disclosed new details emerging from the custodial interrogation of the two accused. Investigators are examining conflicting claims made by Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, as each has reportedly accused the other of planning the crime.

The case, which initially appeared to be a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra's Pune district, has now evolved into a high-profile murder investigation. Police allege that the victim was deliberately pushed into a deep gorge after an elaborate conspiracy that was allegedly planned over several weeks.

The developments have drawn widespread public attention due to the shocking nature of the allegations and the apparent betrayal of trust involving people who were closely associated with the victim.

According to investigators, Ketan Agrawal, a 25-year-old director of a real estate company and an avid trekking enthusiast, died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka. The incident was initially treated as an accidental death. However, subsequent investigation led police to suspect foul play, eventually resulting in the arrest of Siya Goyal, who was engaged to marry Agrawal, and Chetan Chaudhary, who police allege was in a relationship with her.

During questioning, both accused reportedly offered different versions of events while attempting to shift responsibility for the alleged conspiracy onto one another.

Police officials said Siya Goyal claimed she had informed Ketan that she no longer wished to proceed with their marriage. According to her statement, Ketan allegedly refused to end the engagement despite repeated conversations. Investigators say she further claimed that Chetan Chaudhary later suggested eliminating Agrawal after the relationship dispute remained unresolved.

Chetan Chaudhary, however, has reportedly denied being the mastermind. According to investigators, he claimed that he acted under pressure from Goyal and alleged that she persuaded him to participate in the crime. Police said the conflicting statements remain part of the ongoing investigation and are being verified against physical and digital evidence.

Investigators currently believe the conspiracy may have been planned well before the incident. According to police, evidence collected so far suggests that multiple visits were made to Lohagad Fort before the alleged murder.

Police claim that on May 31, Siya Goyal accompanied Ketan Agrawal to the fort, where investigators believe she identified a location near the Vinchu Kata ridge that could later be used to execute the alleged plan. Authorities further allege that another attempt to visit the fort was made on June 4 but did not materialise after objections from Ketan's family.

Investigators have also alleged that an earlier attempt to kill Agrawal took place on June 14. According to police, he reportedly survived after managing to hold onto vegetation along the hillside. Authorities claim that Goyal later convinced him that the incident had been accidental, allowing her to regain his trust.

Police allege that the fatal incident occurred on June 18, when Ketan Agrawal returned to Lohagad Fort accompanied by Siya Goyal. Investigators claim Chetan Chaudhary was also present at the location and that the victim was pushed into a gorge approximately 350 feet deep, resulting in his death.

As part of the investigation, police are examining electronic evidence, CCTV footage, witness statements and forensic findings to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Investigators have also alleged that preparations for the crime included attempts to remove evidence and avoid detection. According to police, Ketan Agrawal's passport was allegedly discarded several days before the incident.

Another important aspect of the investigation involves mobile phone records. Police said an employee working at Chaudhary's business establishment informed investigators that Chaudhary allegedly left his own mobile phone behind on the day of the incident and instead carried the employee's phone during the trip to Lohagad Fort. Investigators are examining whether this was done to avoid location tracking or for another purpose.

CCTV footage recovered from a café in Pune has also become part of the investigation. According to police, the footage allegedly shows meetings between Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary during the period leading up to the incident. Investigators are questioning both accused regarding the purpose and frequency of these meetings as they attempt to establish the timeline of the alleged conspiracy.

As part of the ongoing probe, police recently escorted Siya Goyal to Lohagad Fort for a reconstruction of events. Investigators recreated the sequence of movements at the location while forensic experts examined the area for additional evidence that could support the investigation.

Authorities have emphasized that forensic analysis remains a key component of the case. Specialists continue to examine physical evidence collected from the crime scene alongside digital records, mobile phone data and witness testimonies.

The case has generated widespread attention across Maharashtra due to the serious allegations and the evolving nature of the investigation. Legal experts note that while police have presented their preliminary findings, the allegations will ultimately be tested in court, where evidence and witness testimony will determine the outcome of the case.

Investigators continue to gather additional material as they prepare the prosecution's case. Police have not ruled out further examination of electronic records, forensic reports or witness statements if new evidence emerges during the investigation.

Meanwhile, both accused remain under investigation, and the judicial process will determine their legal responsibility based on the evidence presented before the court. Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues, emphasizing that the inquiry is still underway.

The Ketan Agrawal case has highlighted the importance of thorough forensic investigation in cases initially believed to be accidental deaths. What began as a suspected trekking mishap has transformed into a complex criminal investigation involving allegations of conspiracy, betrayal and premeditated murder. As investigators continue piecing together the events leading to Agrawal's death, the focus now remains on establishing the complete sequence of facts before the matter proceeds through the judicial system.
