DMRC and IIT Hyderabad to Develop Autonomous Navigation Technology

Passengers using the Delhi Metro may soon experience smoother last-mile connectivity. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed an MoU with TiHAN, the Technology Innovation Hub for Autonomous Navigation at IIT Hyderabad, to jointly develop next-generation autonomous navigation solutions.

The agreement was signed in Bahadurgarh in the presence of officials from DMRC and IIT Hyderabad. With this collaboration, Delhi Metro aims to enhance the ease of travel for commuters who often face delays and difficulties while covering the final stretch from metro stations to their destinations.

The project has been designed with a wider vision. Beyond Delhi, the new technology is expected to support modern and efficient transport systems in India’s Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Once implemented, it could play a crucial role in improving local mobility and offering safer, faster, and smarter travel options across smaller urban regions.

DMRC stated that the initiative marks a significant step toward creating more advanced public transportation networks in the country.
