    Yugcharan News / 25-09-2026

Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across major Indian cities on Friday, September 25, with state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) keeping retail fuel rates steady following their daily price revision. Consumers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other cities continued to pay the same rates as the previous day.

In Delhi, petrol was priced at Rs 102.12 per litre, while diesel continued to cost Rs 95.20 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol was available at Rs 111.21 per litre and diesel at Rs 97.83 per litre.

Fuel prices in India are reviewed daily by state-run oil marketing companies, with the latest rates generally taking effect from 6 am. Despite fluctuations in international crude oil markets, domestic retail prices have remained stable in several major cities in recent days.

Petrol and Diesel Prices in Major Cities

The following are the reported petrol and diesel prices on September 25:

    City Petrol Price/Litre Diesel Price/Litre
New Delhi Rs 102.12 Rs 95.20
    Mumbai Rs 111.21 Rs 97.83
    Kolkata Rs 113.51 Rs 99.82
    Chennai Rs 107.77 Rs 99.55
    Gurugram Rs 102.97 Rs 95.64
    Noida Rs 101.96 Rs 95.44
    Bengaluru Rs 111.68 Rs 99.56
    Bhubaneswar Rs 108.97 Rs 100.68
    Chandigarh Rs 101.54 Rs 89.47
    Hyderabad Rs 116.15 Rs 104.23
    Jaipur Rs 112.66 Rs 98.25
    Lucknow Rs 101.86 Rs 95.36
    Patna Rs 113.37 Rs 99.36
    Thiruvananthapuram Rs 115.49 Rs 104.40

    Delhi Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged

Petrol in the national capital continued to be sold at Rs 102.12 per litre on September 25. Diesel was priced at Rs 95.20 per litre.

The rates remained unchanged despite movements in global crude oil prices. Delhi's fuel prices are influenced not only by the cost of crude oil but also by central and state taxes and other components that form part of the final retail price.

Consumers in neighbouring cities also continued to see broadly stable rates. In Noida, petrol was priced at Rs 101.96 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.44 per litre. In Gurugram, petrol stood at Rs 102.97 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.64 per litre.

    Mumbai Petrol and Diesel Rates

In Mumbai, petrol continued to cost Rs 111.21 per litre, while diesel remained at Rs 97.83 per litre.

The Mumbai petrol rate was unchanged from the previous day. The city continues to have a higher retail petrol price than Delhi, partly because fuel prices incorporate state-level taxes and other local components.

    Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru Rates

In Kolkata, petrol was priced at Rs 113.51 per litre and diesel at Rs 99.82 per litre.

Chennai recorded a petrol price of Rs 107.77 per litre, while diesel was available at Rs 99.55 per litre.

In Bengaluru, petrol remained at Rs 111.68 per litre and diesel at Rs 99.56 per litre.

The differences in retail fuel prices between cities are influenced by taxes, transportation costs and local market conditions, in addition to international crude prices.

Hyderabad Has Highest Petrol Rate Among Listed Cities

Among the cities covered in the reported rates, Hyderabad had the highest petrol price at Rs 116.15 per litre.

Diesel in Hyderabad was priced at Rs 104.23 per litre.

Thiruvananthapuram also recorded a relatively high petrol price of Rs 115.49 per litre, while diesel was priced at Rs 104.40 per litre.

Bhubaneswar's petrol rate stood at Rs 108.97 per litre and diesel at Rs 100.68 per litre.

Why Do Petrol and Diesel Prices Change?

State-run oil marketing companies revise petrol and diesel prices every day, with the revised rates generally coming into effect at 6 am.

The retail price paid by consumers depends on multiple factors. International crude oil prices are an important component, but domestic fuel rates are also affected by the rupee-dollar exchange rate, taxes and local market conditions.

As a result, a fall or rise in international crude oil prices does not necessarily translate immediately into an equivalent change in petrol or diesel prices at Indian fuel stations.

Domestic fuel prices have remained relatively stable across several major markets in recent days despite volatility in global oil markets.

Global Crude Oil Prices Under Pressure

International crude oil prices edged lower on Friday as markets assessed developments surrounding a possible truce between the United States and Iran, alongside concerns following a bombing in Saudi Arabia attributed to Houthi rebels.

Brent crude futures fell by 74 cents, or 0.69 per cent, to $105.85 a barrel at 0032 GMT. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined by 81 cents, or 0.86 per cent, to $93.80 a barrel.

The movement came after a volatile period in global oil markets. Both Brent and WTI had risen sharply during the previous session. Brent settled 3.4 per cent higher, while WTI gained 2.7 per cent on Thursday.

Brent's latest settlement was its highest closing level since September 15. WTI also recorded a rise after declining for six consecutive sessions, during which it had fallen by around 13 per cent.

For the week, WTI remained down 6.42 per cent, while Brent was up 2.09 per cent, according to the reported market data.

What Global Oil Movements Mean for Indian Consumers

Crude oil prices are closely watched in India because the country imports a significant share of its crude oil requirements. Changes in international prices can therefore influence the cost structure of petroleum products.

However, retail petrol and diesel prices are not determined by crude oil prices alone. The final price paid by consumers includes several components, including taxes and other charges. This means global crude movements and domestic fuel prices may not move in exactly the same direction or at the same pace.

For consumers, the immediate situation on September 25 remained one of price stability. No major change was reported in petrol or diesel prices across the major cities listed.

Fuel Rates Remain Unchanged on September 25

With petrol and diesel prices unchanged, consumers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other major cities continued to pay the same rates as the previous day.

Delhi's petrol and diesel prices stood at Rs 102.12 and Rs 95.20 per litre, respectively, while Mumbai recorded rates of Rs 111.21 for petrol and Rs 97.83 for diesel.

At the same time, global crude markets remained sensitive to geopolitical developments and movements in the US-Iran situation. Any sustained change in international oil prices, currency movements or domestic taxation could influence fuel prices in the future.

For September 25, however, the reported retail rates remained unchanged across the major Indian markets.
