Delhi Covered in Dense Fog as Cold Wave Intensifies

Delhi woke up to dense fog and severe cold conditions on Monday as a cold wave tightened its grip on the national capital. Visibility dropped sharply in the early hours, prompting IGI Airport to issue a travel advisory. However, airport authorities clarified that all flight operations are running normally, with low-visibility procedures in place, and advised passengers to check with airlines for updates.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of around 8°C, while the maximum is expected to reach 22°C. A yellow alert was issued earlier due to fog but was later withdrawn. Moderate to dense fog is likely to persist through the week, especially during mornings and nights.

The city experienced its first cold wave of the season over the weekend, with Saturday marking the coldest December day so far. Delhi’s Environment Minister has also warned that weather conditions may worsen in the coming days.
