Ahead of PM Modi’s Tamil Nadu Visit, CM Stalin Flags Pending Central Approvals and Funds

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tamil Nadu on Friday to attend a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rally, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin used the occasion to reiterate long-standing demands related to pending approvals and financial allocations from the Centre. The exchange highlighted the continuing political contest between the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the State and the NDA at the national level, with Assembly elections on the horizon.

In a message shared on social media ahead of the Prime Minister’s programme, Chief Minister Stalin drew attention to what he described as unresolved issues affecting Tamil Nadu’s development. He stated that several proposals submitted by the State government to the Union government were still awaiting clearance and that funds due to Tamil Nadu under various heads had not been fully released.

Stalin Raises State’s Pending Issues

“The people of Tamil Nadu expect accountability on approvals and funds that directly impact governance and public welfare,” Stalin said in his post, while reiterating that the State government would continue to pursue its demands through constitutional and administrative channels.

DMK leaders later said the Chief Minister’s remarks were intended to highlight policy and federal concerns rather than personalise the political contest.
