Delhi Police Recruitment Fraud: One Man Ran the Race, Another Turned Up for Height and Chest Measurement

A suspected impersonation and recruitment fraud has surfaced during the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PEMT) for the Delhi Police Constable (Executive) recruitment, after officials allegedly caught a 19-year-old candidate who had not participated in the physical events but arrived later for his height and chest measurements.

The incident reportedly took place at the Delhi Police Academy (DPA) in Wazirabad, where the physical tests for the recruitment process are being conducted. The candidate, identified as Akshit, a resident of Silana village in Haryana’s Sonipat district, allegedly arranged for another person to appear in his place during the physical test.

According to the information available in the case, the substitute candidate allegedly entered the examination venue using a tampered admit card and participated in the required physical events, including the 1,600-metre race, long jump and high jump. Akshit allegedly appeared later for the biometric verification and physical measurements.

The suspected fraud came to light when officials noticed that Akshit did not appear to have undergone the strenuous physical activities that had just been completed by the candidates.

Officials Suspect Impersonation During Physical Test

The PEMT is an important stage in the recruitment process for Delhi Police Constable (Executive) posts. Candidates are required to demonstrate their physical endurance and meet prescribed physical standards before proceeding further in the recruitment process.

During the test at the Delhi Police Academy, candidates take part in physical activities such as a 1,600-metre race, long jump and high jump. Height and chest measurements are subsequently recorded as part of the physical assessment.

Officials reportedly became suspicious when Akshit arrived for the measurement stage. His physical appearance did not seem consistent with someone who had just completed the demanding events.

According to the information emerging from the investigation, officials noticed the absence of signs such as sweat and dust that could normally be expected after the physical activities. Other candidates also reportedly raised questions about whether the person who had participated in the physical events was actually Akshit.

This prompted officials to question him about his participation in the test.

Another Person Allegedly Took the Physical Test

During questioning, Akshit allegedly disclosed that another person had appeared for the physical test on his behalf.

The substitute candidate allegedly used an admit card that had been tampered with to gain entry into the examination venue. He then reportedly participated in the physical endurance events in place of Akshit.

The physical test allegedly included the 1,600-metre race along with the long jump and high jump. After completing the events, the substitute candidate allegedly handed over his chest number to Akshit before leaving the venue.

The alleged plan was for Akshit to subsequently appear for the remaining procedures, including biometric verification and height and chest measurement.

However, the plan was reportedly disrupted when officials noticed inconsistencies in his physical condition and began questioning him.

Brother Allegedly Helped Arrange the Substitute

During the questioning, Akshit allegedly told officials that his brother had helped arrange another person to take the physical test in his place.

The allegations indicate that the substitute was brought in specifically to complete the physical stage of the recruitment process, while Akshit was expected to appear for the subsequent verification and measurement procedures.

The alleged use of a different person during the physical examination raises questions about how the substitute candidate was able to enter the examination centre and participate in the events.

Investigators are now expected to examine how the alleged tampering of the admit card was carried out and whether anyone else assisted the candidates in bypassing the identity verification process.

Police Take Action After Suspected Fraud Is Detected

After the suspected impersonation came to light, the matter was reportedly brought to the attention of police officials. Akshit was subsequently handed over to the police at Sonia Vihar police station.

A case has been initiated, and investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation.

One of the key aspects of the investigation is the identification and whereabouts of the person who allegedly appeared for Akshit. Police are also expected to examine the alleged tampering of the admit card and determine how the substitute candidate managed to enter the testing venue.

The investigation will also seek to establish whether the alleged attempt was limited to helping one candidate clear the physical test or whether other individuals were involved.

Identity Verification Remains Critical in Recruitment Tests

The incident highlights the importance of identity verification during government recruitment examinations. Physical tests are intended to assess the actual candidate’s ability to meet the prescribed standards. If another individual appears on behalf of a candidate, the integrity of that assessment can be compromised.

Police are now examining several questions arising from the case. These include how the alleged substitute candidate obtained access to the examination venue, how the admit card was allegedly altered, and whether the process involved anyone other than the candidate and his brother.

Investigators will also have to establish the identity of the person who allegedly appeared for Akshit and determine his exact role in the incident.

At this stage, the allegations are part of an ongoing investigation, and the involvement of any additional person can only be established through evidence and the subsequent legal process.
