IND vs SA T20s: Jitesh Sharma Says Competition With Sanju Samson Elevates His Game

Jitesh Sharma said his competition with Sanju Samson for the wicketkeeper-batter role helps bring out his best, calling Samson “an elder brother.” His comments came after India’s dominant 101-run win over South Africa in the first T20I in Cuttack.

Ahead of the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that India has mostly finalised its squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, with only a few roles still being evaluated — including the wicketkeeper-batter slot. Both Samson and Jitesh remain strong contenders, with the team opting for Jitesh in the opening game of the series.

India’s convincing victory at Barabati Stadium showcased depth in the squad, while the healthy rivalry between Samson and Jitesh continues to be a key talking point as the team builds towards next year’s global tournament.
