    Yugcharan News / 28 July 2026

Amid widespread discussions on social media regarding the alleged detention of volunteer Mohammad Junaid during the ongoing protests in Delhi, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has issued a clarification stating that Junaid is safe and is receiving all necessary legal assistance. The statement comes after several videos and posts claimed that Junaid had been detained by the Delhi Police and was not receiving support from the protest organizers.

The controversy began after Mohammad Junaid, who gained attention for distributing free meals to protesters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar demonstration, alleged that he had been taken into custody by police authorities. Following his claims, multiple social media posts suggested that he had been abandoned without legal support, prompting the CJP to publicly respond.

    CJP Rejects Viral Claims

CJP spokesperson Ratna Singh dismissed the circulating reports, calling them misleading and inaccurate.

According to Singh, Mohammad Junaid is safe, has been provided with all necessary legal assistance, and was recently present at a gathering of CJP volunteers. She urged the public not to spread misinformation or unverified claims regarding the matter.

In her statement, Singh also said that the organization had immediately taken note of the actions reportedly taken against Junaid's residence and reiterated that the party has consistently supported him and other volunteers associated with the movement.

She further appealed to social media users to avoid spreading rumors that could create confusion or unnecessary hostility.

Junaid Became Known During Jantar Mantar Protest

Mohammad Junaid came into the spotlight after voluntarily distributing free food to participants during the student-led protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. His humanitarian effort was widely appreciated by protesters and several social media users.

However, after reports emerged claiming that he had been detained by police authorities, several videos surfaced alleging that he was not receiving adequate legal assistance from the protest organizers. These claims quickly spread across various social media platforms, leading to public debate and demands for clarification.

    Allegations Regarding Family Members

Apart from concerns surrounding Junaid's alleged detention, some individuals associated with the protest movement also claimed that members of his family had faced police action.

According to one protest participant from Ghaziabad, Junaid's family members were allegedly detained in Ghaziabad, while some relatives in Meerut were reportedly questioned by authorities. These allegations have circulated online, although no official confirmation regarding these specific claims has been released.

CJP, while responding to the broader controversy, maintained that Junaid continues to receive organizational support and legal assistance.

    Mohammad Junaid Shares His Account

A video featuring Mohammad Junaid has also been widely circulated online. In the video, he narrates his version of the events leading to his alleged detention.

According to Junaid, he had visited Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on the night of July 24 after reportedly suffering a dog bite. He said he was accompanied by one of his associates.

Junaid alleged that after leaving the hospital, Delhi Police personnel detained him and transported him to another location while blindfolded. He further claimed that no senior police officer questioned him throughout the night and that formal questioning began only the following morning.

    Questions Asked During Interrogation

In the same video, Junaid stated that the police questioned him about several aspects of his activities.

According to his account, officers asked where the funding for the food distribution was coming from, what work he did, and how the meals for protesters were being arranged.

Junaid said he informed the officers that the food distribution was being organized collectively with the help of volunteers. After answering the questions, he claimed that he and his companion were taken to Mussoorie in Uttarakhand and later returned to Delhi by cab.

Importantly, Junaid stated in the video that he was not physically assaulted during the alleged detention.

He also acknowledged that Ratna Singh had contacted him after the incident and suggested that there should be a dedicated legal assistance team to support volunteers involved in public protests.

    Social Media Reactions Continue

The issue has generated significant discussion on social media, where users have expressed differing opinions regarding the viral claims and the clarification issued by CJP.

While some users have questioned the circumstances surrounding Junaid's alleged detention, others have urged people to wait for verified information before drawing conclusions. Several supporters have praised Junaid for his volunteer work during the protests, while others have called for greater transparency regarding the reported police action.

No Official Police Statement on Specific Claims

As of the time of writing, authorities have not publicly confirmed the detailed allegations made by Mohammad Junaid regarding the circumstances of his alleged detention, transportation, or questioning.

Similarly, the claims relating to the alleged detention of his family members have not been independently verified through official government or police statements.

    Investigation and Public Interest

The developments have attracted attention because they occurred amid ongoing nationwide discussions surrounding student protests and related demonstrations. Observers note that incidents involving volunteers and organizers are likely to remain under public scrutiny as authorities continue to monitor protest-related activities.

For now, CJP maintains that Mohammad Junaid is safe, legally supported, and continues to remain associated with the organization. At the same time, several aspects of the allegations shared by Junaid remain subject to official verification.

Authorities have not announced any separate investigation specifically addressing the claims made in Junaid's viral video. Until further official information becomes available, many of the allegations continue to be based on statements made by the individuals involved and responses issued by the organization.

The situation remains under close public observation as further updates are awaited from both the concerned authorities and representatives associated with the protest movement
